This important process has three main parts:

1. Digestion: this happens in the mouth, the pharynx, the oesophagus and the stomach. It is the process to break down food in to tiny pieces mixed with the saliva. This mixture is called bollus.

2. Absorption: this happens in the small intestine. Thank you to the capillaries, the nutrients of the food will pass to the blood and we will be able to use them.

3. Elimination of waste: this happens in the large intestine and the anus. The food with no nutrients will be expulsed from our body through the anus in form of feaces.
